A hazardous arc can occur in any electrical device in which the energy is high enough to sustain an arc. Arc flash hazards can result from many factors including dropped tools, accidental contact with electrical systems, build up of conductive dust, corrosion, and improper work procedures. The flash is immediate, but the results can cause sever injuries that last months, years – even a lifetime. In some cases, they may cause death.
